Sedona, AZ mountain range

Best Places to Visit in Sedona, AZ

When most people think of the state of Arizona, they think of blistering, relentless heat. Though that is quite true for Maricopa County and the Southwestern part of the state, Northern Arizona is blessed with amazing summer weather. Laying across both Coconino and Yavapai Counties is a gorgeous city known as Sedona. This great tourist attraction, more affectionally known as Red Rock country, is a nature lover’s dream. If you have a family vacation to Sedona on your travel calendar, you may be wondering how to best spend your time when you are there. Here are some tips on places to visit in Sedona, Arizona.

Slide Rock

Rather than pay for pricey tickets to a water park, travel to Slide Rock State Park. This little slip of Oak Creek is a natural waterslide immersed in chilly snow run-off. It is not uncommon to find citizens of Phoenix sneaking up to Slide Rock to cool off for the weekend. Be sure to come early to find parking and don’t forget to pack sunblock.

Coffee Pot Rock and Coffee Pot Restaurant

Sedona’s famed Coffee Pot Rock is named based on its resemblance to the popular kitchen gadget that helps many people start their day. To get a great view of it, head to breakfast at The Coffee Pot Restaurant. Doing business in Red Rock country for over 30 years, this spot is famous for offering 101 different types of omelets. With variety like that, there is sure to be something on the menu to please everyone.

Oak Creek Hiking

Whether you are a hiking novice or a pro, the trails surrounding Oak Creek are a great place to spend a day on your family vacation. There are flat trails that are perfect for families and dogs. There are also plenty of challenging spots that will help you work up a sweat. Be sure to pack plenty of water to stay hydrated in that dry heat.

Pink Jeep Tours

Instead of hiking and sliding, consider putting your feet up and letting a tour guide take you to those spots that are only accessible by Jeep. The famous Pink Jeep Tours are hands down, the best way to sightsee when you travel to Sedona. Doing business for over 60 years, you can be sure that your guide will offer a family vacation to remember.

This area is the perfect spot for meditation and self-care. There are number of ways to hike to these famed vortices, so be sure to map out your route before heading out on your journey.
