Safest Places to Travel in Mexico

The country of Mexico has been a travel destination for families for decades. The food, culture, and music make for a wonderful international experience without having to take an overseas flight. Over the past decade, many people planning a family vacation have taken Mexico off their list due to concerns about safety. The good news for those who are interested in travel to Mexico is that there are still plenty of safe options that are definitely worth the trip. If you need a little convincing, then read on to learn about the safest places to travel in Mexico.

Rocky Point

Puerto Peñasco, or as it is called in English, Rocky Point, is an awesome little fishing and beach town. Though travelers should exercise caution by only traveling there by car during daylight hours, the resorts and hotels in the area are safe for visitors. Known for its sand dunes and beaches, it is a great spot to ride an ATV or just spend time on the sand catching some sun rays. Be sure to come hungry and treat yourself to their famous street tacos.

Tijuana

Just across the border from San Ysidro, California, the city of Tijuana is a great travel destination for anyone who enjoys bargain shopping.  With endless streets of shopping, this area remains a safe day trip for travelers as there is no need for a car. Visitors can park on the California side of the border and cross into Tijuana on foot. Before you visit, you may want to practice your haggling skills. The vendors in Tijuana are famous for making tourists work to get the best deals.

Nogales

Like its neighbor to the West, Nogales is also a great day trip for shopping fans. The city straddles the international border between Arizona and Mexico. Park on the Arizona side and walk across the border to spend a day checking out the shops. Be sure to pick up a bottle of Mexican vanilla extract while you’re there. Though taking a stroll through the city during the day is deemed safe, tourists are advised to avoid spending time in the city once the sun goes down.

Cancun

If you are looking for a memorable family vacation, then you will find it in Cancun, Mexico. This Mexico resort town rivals any beachside city. Most tourists travel there by plane and spend all of their time on the resort grounds as there is no need to leave. With all-inclusive options that cover meal and alcohol expenses, there are plenty of resorts to choose from at a variety of price points. A trip to Cancun is the perfect way to experience the beautiful beaches and awesome cuisine of Mexico.

Anyone who may be weary of travel to Mexico can rest assured knowing there are still plenty of spots that are perfect for a family vacation. The citizens of Mexico depend heavily on tourism, so consider adding a trip to one of their amazing resorts to your future travel plans.
