New Smartwatch

Has the Smartwatch Replaced the Classical Timepiece?

In a tech-driven society, one prevailing question is how long classic timepieces are here to stay. Smartwatches keep getting smarter, often doubling as fitness trackers, mini smartphones, GPS devices, and more… But can they actually replace the classic timepiece?

Putting the “Smart” in Smartwatch

If you love the latest in technology and the convenient features smartwatches present, perhaps it’s the best watch for you. Smartwatch advantages include functions far beyond the ability to simply hold time, I think time travel may be next in the long list of features some watches have. However, like any electronic device, they can have glitches as software becomes outdated or the “Matrix” goes down (couldn’t resist), not to mention the battery life, not lasting as long. At the end of the day though, there are some really cool smartwatches out there and make for great conversation starters. But the age-old question will always prevail, “can they replace a classic timepiece?

Relishing the "Classical" Timepiece

The classic timepiece is still very much in vogue. Though limited functionality, the battery life can last for years and the timepiece has the added benefit of doubling as jewelry. Brands like Rolex or Cartier still create timelines styles that are just as popular and in high demand. There is also a secondary watch certified per-owned market that is thriving, so you have buying options when you are looking to invest.

Which Watch is the Best Watch?

The decision of whether to wear a smartwatch or a classic timepiece really depends on the goals and values of the person wearing it. For example, do you want the latest technology, or do you simply want to keep track of time? How important is intercepting incoming notifications and calls to your personal and professional life? Would you rather make a fashion statement? These are some questions that will help you pick the best timepiece that is right for you. Since both types of watches have various pros and cons, for now, it is a safe prediction that both are here to stay.
